The Real Beauty "Hero" Products

David Walker Smith, Director of Beauty for London's Selfridges Department Store, revealed the true beauty "hero" products to journalist and writer India Knight. These are the products that really deliver on their promises, and the number of familiar tried-and-tested names below reassure me that the ones I've never tried are definitely worth a go. Kiehl's Creme de Corps was certainly the only thing that could get me through the harshness of winters in Switzerland without ending up rough and scaly!

In particular I've been looking for a new mascara for AGES, so am interested to try out the Lancome Oscillation Mascara - it seemed like such a gimicky idea (a vibrating mascara wand), but perhaps it really works.

Clarin's Beauty Flash Balm
Guerlain's Midnight Secret
Guerlain's Terracotta Bronzing Powder
Kiehl's Creme de Corps
Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil
Jurlique Hand Cream
Yves Saint Laurent Falsh Lash Effect Mascara
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat
Dermalogica Multivitamin Recovery Face Mask
Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair
Lancome Oscillation Mascara
Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Cream
Bare Minerals SPF15 Foundation
DiorShow Mascara
Chanel Poudre Universelle

Which of the above have you tried, and have you had any success with any of them?

  1. Guerlain's Midnight Secret is an absolute gem but then I"m partial to anything Guerlain. In terms of mascara, Lancome mascaras tend to always be good for me.. and remember, sometimes it's not the mascara but just might be the wand so you can always try taking the wand from a mascara you love and trying the new formula. Jurlique hand cream is overrated in my opinion while I've had good experience with Bare Minerals foundation.

  2. Guerlain's Midnight Secret works like a charm for me, I absolutely adore it.
As for mascara, I give Helena Rubinstein's Lash Queen Feline two thumbs up, it definitely works better for me compared to the Diorshow.

  3. I need to try some Guerlain - strangely I've never bought anything from this brand! I'm definitely in the market for a new mascara as my crusty old Maybelline just isn't cutting it any more...

  4. Arden's 8 Hour cream is wonderful! You can use it as a moisturiser, gloss, highlighter, brow definer..the list goes on!

Diorshow mascara gives great volume and lasts for hours without any flaky smudgy stuff.

My fallback beauty hero item is Benefit Georgia powder - makes me look human on bad face days!

  7. Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I'm thinking about creating
my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions? Appreciate it
